Because most commercial dog food is loaded with chemicals, fillers, stabilizers, color agents, and by-products to improve the taste, stability, characteristics, or appearance of this premium dog food.
Synthetic preservatives include Butylated hydroxyanisole ( BHA) and Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), Propylgallate, Propylene glycol, Ethoxyquin and Sodium nitrite.

All of the above can literally poison your dog, possibly creating toxic overload in its liver and kidneys. Some manufactures claim to use vitamins as "natural" preservatives, such as
Vitamin C, Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols), and oils of rosemary, clove, or other spices. Don’t be fooled by dog food that claim to have no preservatives, they would have no shelf life without preservation of some kind. Those dog food ingredients are already individually preserved.

The wrong dog food set up destructive biochemical reactions in the dogs body. Therefore, healthy dog food - made of fresh meat, vegetables, grains, and fruits - will support biochemical reactions and lead to a healthy immune system that fights off bacteria, viruses, and parasites.
